Marion and Guillaume were friends before becoming a couple.
When Guillaume Canet and Marion Cotillard met in 1997, they immediately became friends. At the time, Marion was in a relationship with actor Julien Rassam, and Guillaume was dating Diane Kruger.
The then-friends worked together for first time in 2003. They starred in the romantic comedy Love Me If You Dare where they played friends whose relationship grew into romantic feelings. The next time they reunited on-screen, they were already in a relationship. In 2009, they played a couple in love in the movie The Last Flight, and in 2017, Guillaume invited Marion to work on Rock’n Roll.
Their previous relationships were not easy.

4 years later, Marion and Guillaume welcomed their first child, a son named Marcel. When the boy was 4 years old, Cotillard revealed that motherhood changed her life and her priorities. Even though she’s fully dedicated to her work, she never forgets that she’s a mother and has to pay as much attention as possible to her son.
5 years after that, Marion announced her second pregnancy. Soon, she and Guillaume had a daughter, Louise. Now the couple is raising both children.
They were indignant about the rumors that Marion and Brad Pitt had an affair.
In 2016, Marion Cotillard appeared in the center of a scandal. Angelina Jolie filed for divorce with Brad Pitt. Cotillard was rumored to have had an affair with Pitt while filming the movie Allied. The rumors became so intense in the media that Marion had to comment on them. She spoke warmly about her relationship with Guillaume.
They refused to follow traditions and didn’t get married.
Despite rumors and a gorgeous diamond ring on Marion’s left hand, she and Guillaume are not married and not engaged. In the 2014 interview, Cotillard denied being married to Canet and called him “my boyfriend.”
The couple tries to keep their relationship private. And even when they started dating, they avoided discussing this topic with the press and never appeared together at red carpet events until the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. But even now, they rarely speak of each other during interviews, and you won’t find touching selfies on their Instagram accounts. Only some paparazzi photos prove that they are together. So, it’s quite possible that they got married long time ago and we just don’t know about it.
