Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes Live in a Small Apartment With 2 Kids, Cook and Clean by Themselves, and Don’t Have a Babysitter

When Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are together, they break all the unwritten rules. The famous couple could afford a life of luxury and indulgence, but they prefer to raise their daughters in simplicity and hard work. Ryan and Eva live in a small apartment, share household responsibilities, and do not even have a babysitter. We will tell you why they chose this way of life and how they maintain peace and order in the family nest.

Ryan and Eva are A-list stars, but they live very humble lives. They are raising 2 daughters, but not in a huge mansion in Hollywood Hills. Instead, they live in a small apartment with 2 bedrooms. The actors want to give their kids a normal childhood, which is why they hide their lives from prying eyes and spend a lot of time out of town. There, they can walk with their kids without attracting too much unwanted attention.

Their oldest daughter Esmeralda is 8, and Amanda is 6. Gosling and Mendes don’t want a babysitter on principle, which is unheard of in Hollywood. The actors raise their kids themselves. And when they need help, they just ask Eva’s older relatives.

They are hands-on in the household

Eva and Ryan are a perfect couple. She loves cooking, and he loves cleaning. Mendes says that she is a “kitchen freak.” Her passion for cleaning turned into a business project. Eva became a co-owner of a company which produces anti-germ cleaning sponges.

Mendes loves doing the dishes and cleaning the sink. It’s therapeutic for her. She says, “Life is so chaotic. But the one thing I can control is my house, my kitchen. So when I do the dishes, it’s meditative for me. It really goes deeper than just cleaning up. It really gives me clarity. Clean sink equals clear mind for me.”

They organized a home office for Eva

As a co-owner of a company, Eva has to make business calls. She does it all from home. “It’s a mess! I’ll be Zooming with various people throughout the day and I have no idea. I’ll see people kind of giggle, and I see my five-year-old, who just turned six, will be right behind me with her blankie and looking so cute.” So, the star set some ground rules: a closed door means that mom is working. But her kids still find “important” reasons to visit Mendes in her home office.

Parenthood is more important than their careers

Ryan Gosling has an acting career that keeps him busy, but he says that he is a father first and foremost, and only then he is an actor. Eva took a break from her acting career to devote her time to what she feels is the most creative thing in the world — motherhood.

Before the age of 9, the actress was surrounded by the love of her mom, and these years formed her as a person. Mendes is thinking about returning to the world of cinema, but her expectation of the future projects have changed. “I don’t want to do anything violent.”

They don’t take their kids to school

Gosling and Mendes chose to homeschool their kids. At first, Eva tried to teach her daughters herself, but she quickly gave up on the idea. Now, the girls have a tutor who teaches them at home and during trips. “We travel a lot and we’re lucky enough to have someone we travel with that can continue their education at this point, and what we do is we try to incorporate the city we’re in as much as possible.”
