David Tennant Fell in Love With Georgia in 2008, and Today They’re Raising 5 Children, One of Which Has Appeared on “House of the Dragon”
David Tennant and Georgia Moffett met during the filming of one of the episodes of Doctor Who. The 23-year-old actress played the role of Jenny, the daughter of the main character played by Tennant. At first, they became friends, and then, they fell in love with each other. Three years later, they decided to make things official — in January 2011, they got engaged and married in December.
By the time they got married, they already had a daughter named Olive. And the actor adopted Ty, Georgia’s son from a previous relationship. She got pregnant after a short romance and had a son in 2002 when she was only 17 years old.
By the way, Ty also appeared in a Doctor Who-related project. In 2013, he got a part in an episode of The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.
Ty decided to fill in the footsteps of his famous parents. He debuted in a movie in 2019, playing young Christopher Wiseman in Tolkien. After that, he started filming in the sci-fi series The War of the Worlds and appeared on the screen in season 3 of Doom Patrol.
In the mini-series Around the World in 80 Days, Ty played a small part with his dad, who portrayed traveler Phileas Fogg. And in 2022, you might have seen Tennant junior as Aegon II Targaryen in the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon.
Their eldest daughter Olive is also quite successful. In 2021, she played the role of a schoolgirl in Belfast and got her first movie award, the National Film Awards as Best Newcomer.
Georgia shared the photos of her daughter on the red carpet and wrote, “Oh, my darling girl. How proud I am of you.”
Ty and Olive are not the only children in the Tennant family. In 2013, David and Georgia had a son Wilfred, and 2 years later, a daughter Doris. And in October 2019, the couple had a girl Birdie.
Their fifth child was born on almost the same day as Michael Sheen’s daughter. Sheen is a friend of Tennant and his partner in Good Omens. So Georgia decided to play a joke on them and posted a collage in her blog where both actors are carrying their babies.
While the fans already know Ty and Olive, who are already actors, the faces of the youngest kids are hidden from the public. Their parents protect them from public attention.
David doesn’t have an Instagram page and prefers not to talk about his private life, and Georgia always covers the faces of their kids with emojis and takes photos of them from the back.
Raising 5 children is not an easy task. And of course, it’s silly to hope that the house will always be peaceful and quiet.
The actress told that she once gave up and said, “I’m sorry. I just have to...” and climbed to the roof of the house. It was the only place where nobody would look for her, and she could rest a bit.
It doesn’t stop Georgia from laughing at herself and posting photos about her difficult days as a mother. She once posted a photo and wrote, “Parenting book cover,” where you could see the legs of Birdie standing next to the plate of food.
And it wasn’t the only time when she took pictures of her youngest daughter. The girl is actively learning new things about the world and wants to experiment a lot.
Georgia likes experiments too. She regularly gets inspired by the photos of delicious meals online and even buys cooking books. But she usually burns her meals. She laughs, “My family are so lucky to have me.”
This is why the babysitter often cooks for the kids. And on Sundays, the parents try to cook something that is really hard to ruin, like boiled eggs.
But burned toast and other everyday difficulties don’t stop the Tennants from loving and supporting each other. The parents are proud of each of their 5 kids and try to follow the traditions they made. For example, on birthdays, the kids get a cake. Georgia posted a photo of a cake on her Instagram and wrote, “Happy 9th Birthday, Wilfred! Funniest, kindest, and most unique person I know.”
David regularly lies in bed with a book and reads to the kids out loud. And he doesn’t object when his daughters want to test their art skills on him and paint his face different colors.
The Tennants are okay with joking at each other in a non-offensive manner, and the older generation often joins in. Once, Georgia’s father, actor Peter Davison went to Comic-Con with David. While David was signing autographs to the fans of Doctor Who, Peter was standing behind his back, holding a plate that said, “He’s not that special.”
And once, the little Tennants burst into the parents’ bedroom screaming that there was a flood on the stairs. David and Georgia ran to see what was happening and found cups of water in “trainers and wellies” on each step.
If you ask Georgia about the secret of their long marriage, she will say that it’s the love shared by all the family members. She writes about her husband, “This is how loved the six of us feel every day and that’s pretty wonderful.”
