How Naomi Watts Charts Her Own Course by Rejecting Marriage and Encouraging Free Expression in Her Kids
Naomi Watts has dozens of different awards, she’s on the lists of the most attractive women in the world, and was even a UN ambassador. Also, she’s raising 2 kids (who are not afraid to show the world who they really are) and is not planning to get married.
Famous Naomi Watts has won the hearts of many men, but her longest relationship was with Liev Schreiber. They saw each other several times, but their fateful connection happened at the 2005 Met Gala. Several famous men were fighting for the attention of the actress, who was shining like a ray of light. And Liev admitted that at the time he felt really embarrassed. He was scared he wouldn’t able to impress her, so he just ran away.
But Naomi didn’t want their encounter to end this way. She caught up with Liev and asked him, “Don’t you want my digits?” She says it was the first and the last time she’s ever done this. And her spontaneous decision lead to an 11-year-long relationship and the birth of 2 sons.
The family looked quite ordinary, except for the fact that Naomi didn’t want to have an official marriage.
In 2016, they decided that the best way for both of them was not to be lovers, but continue to raise their kids together. And they are quite good at it. In 2019, Naomi said she was proud of her relationship with her ex-partner.
After the break-up, Naomi started to shine like never before. She started dating her colleague Billy Crudup, became president of a football club in England — not far from a farm belonging to her grandparents — and hosted a gala-concert for the charity organization Worldwide Orphans. And she learned to be the most understanding mother for her children.
In 2018, Naomi’s youngest child started to show an interest in girls’ clothes. Kai prefers to wear dresses, jewelry, and even grew long hair to look more feminine. And the actress fully supports Kai, frequently posting photos and talking about how proud she is of her children.
The actress is not afraid of admitting that being a mom is an adventure. And while there are times when she feels like she’s ready to do anything, there are other moments when nothing seems to work. But she’s still sure that this adventure is one of the best she’s had in her entire life.
Even though Naomi can obviously do anything she wants herself, there’s something that has been supporting her for over 30 years: her female friendships. Since 1991, she’s been inseparable with Nicole Kidman, who treats Naomi like a sister. The actresses have gone through divorces, break-ups, and other problems together. And now they know for a fact that women can change the world for the better.
How important do you think official marriage is for a relationship? And are there good ways to combine raising kids and having a personal life?
