Many of us have an inherent sense of jealousy, and celebrities are no exception. However, while some nervously bite their nails at the sight of their partner’s ex, others decide to become best friends with them. We can all learn a little from these celebrities about how you can not only stay friends but be family with your ex’s new partner.

Drew Barrymore can’t get enough of her ex-husband Will Kopelman’s new wife. The actress calls Alexandra Michler a real gift to the family: “I feel like I’m lucky that there’s this new beautiful soul that came into our lives”.

According to Barrymore, she tries not to interfere in the life of the newlyweds, but they often spend time together: going on holidays as one big family, and organizing children’s parties. “I absolutely worship the ground she walks on, and I’m her biggest cheerleader”, is not something every woman can say about her ex-husband’s new love, but Drew did, with no reservation.

Kyle Martino and Ian Hock

Actress Eva Amurri and footballer Kyle Martino were married for eight years, and have three children together. However, after their breakup, the former spouses didn’t even think to forget about each other. They continued to raise their daughter and two sons together, and when Eva met her current partner, chef Ian Hock, Martino befriended him, too.

The two men felt it was the right thing to do so that the actress and the children wouldn’t be caught in the middle. On her Instagram, Amurri often posts pictures of big, happy family get-togethers.

Demi Moore and Mila Kunis

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have stayed on good terms since their divorce in 2013, continuing to do charity work together. The actor still keeps in touch with his ex-wife’s children. When he got together with Mila Kunis, she also spoke exceptionally well about her partner’s ex-wife. However, the women hadn’t appeared in public together.

In early 2022, a commercial was released starring Demi and Mila, in which the actresses joke about graduating from the same high school (which is actually true), adding that they have something else in common. They both said that they enjoyed working together. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll see a film with this acting duo?

Sarah Silverman and Molly McNearney

Molly McNearney insists, that everyone should respect their significant other’s past. So, she maintains a warm relationship with stand-up comedian Sarah Silverman, who her husband, TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel, dated before they met. “I am extremely thankful to Sarah because I think she did a lot of good for Jimmy”, Molly says of Sarah. The two women have also posted photos of themselves together on Instagram more than once. Of course, in their own humorous way.

Disick gave Travis Barker his blessing to marry Kourtney, and she, in turn, was happy for her ex-husband and his current girlfriend.

Samantha Bryant and Busy Philipps

Colin Hanks was once invited to appear on TV with his college sweetheart, Busy Philipps. The actor admitted, that he feels uncomfortable when people bring up his former relationships, given that he has been married for a long time.

Hanks’ ex-girlfriend, on the other hand, felt quite comfortable, saying that it’s been a very long time since their breakup. During that time, the former couple has become good friends. They go on holiday together in a large group with their families. Busy also revealed, that she is very close to Colin’s wife, publicist Samantha Bryant.

Sienna Miller and Alexa Chung

Many might find the following situation awkward: an ex-wife between her ex-husband and his current partner, on a date. However, judging by the photo, it brings out only smiles in Sienna Miller. Along with their new partners, Miller and her former husband Tom Sturridge were seen on a double date at Wimbledon.

Friendship, for these ex-spouses, is only normal, though, as this is not the first time they’ve tried to befriend each other’s partners.

So much so, that the actor became the godfather of Hurley’s son. She herself says that her ex is her best friend and that she is happy to be friends with his current partner — TV producer Anna Elisabet Eberstein.

Brandi Glanville and LeAnn Rimes

The friendship between these two women took a long time to develop. Their relationship began as a feud, with singer LeAnn Rimes stealing former model Brandi Glanville’s husband. The women just couldn’t share actor Eddie Cibrian. And yet, time heals all wounds.

Brandi didn’t interfere in the couple’s life, because she knew — now her children will spend time with their father’s new partner (whether she likes it, or not). So eventually the ladies began to forge a relationship, which, over the years has translated into cute Instagram photos and family holidays together.

She’s delighted that things are going so well for the newlyweds. As the tabloids say, the women understand that from now on, they are part of the same family, and therefore treat each other as such. After all, both Jennifers are doing everything in their power to make sure that Affleck’s children are comfortable at home.

Reese Witherspoon met her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, at the young age of 21. A few years later, they had a daughter, Ava, and a son, Deacon. But in 2006, the couple broke up. However, the actors stayed in close communication, continuing to raise their children together. When Reese married talent agent Jim Toth, the men had to find common ground. And they seem to have succeeded. They’ve been seen together more than once at family events over a friendly conversation.

Megan Fox and Sharna Burgess

The lovely warm relationship between Megan Fox and Sharna Burgess is followed worldwide on Instagram. The former, and current lovers of actor Brian Austin Green are always leaving comments under each other’s posts. The women have a friendly relationship outside of social media, too. The Kardashian-Jenner family has been followed by the public for years. In that time, a lot has happened, one of the most high-profile events being Kris Jenner’s divorce. Unsurprisingly so, as almost immediately afterward, Kris’s former spouse came out to the public as a trans woman, and in 2017, made the complete transition.

The former spouses are now friends, and this extends to Kris’s current boyfriend. Together with Corey Gamble, they brightened up Caitlyn’s (as Kris’s ex-partner is now called) last Christmas, when she had to stay indoors due to health issues. The couple sent her some lovely gifts.

Two other women, who had the wisdom to not fight over a man are Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid. When the singer found out that her friend is in a relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Joe Jonas, she didn’t bother causing a scene.

Swift insisted that for her, her relationship with Hadid comes first: “It’s almost like the sisterhood has such a higher place on the list of priorities for us. It’s so much more important than some guy that it didn’t work out with”. In fact, the model’s relationship with the musician didn’t work out, either. But her friendship with Taylor Swift continues to this day.
