Amanda Seyfried Bought a Farm to Feel Safe and Lives a Happy Life There With Her Husband and Kids

Amanda Seyfried was born and raised in Allentown, one of the biggest cities in Pennsylvania. There, she started working as a model, and then made her appearance in the movie world. She was in iconic Mean Girls, musical Mamma Mia!, and romantic horror Red Riding Hood. She has Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. And at the same time, she’s not a fan of public life. For several years now, she’s lived on a farm with her husband, 2 kids, and many animals.

It all started in 2017 when Amanda got married to her colleague and movie partner Thomas Sadoski. They got married on March 12, 2017, when the actress was 9 months pregnant. And just 12 days later, they had their daughter, Nina.

The wedding was very simple: first, they had a private ceremony for the 2 of them, and then dinner in a small restaurant. The actress decided not to have a big celebration and said she didn’t want to wear a wedding dress. She said, “I get married all the time. I was in a wedding dress last week! I also go to premieres where people take my picture. I just don’t care about all that stuff.”

After getting married, the newlyweds moved to a farm in the Catskills area of New York.

When Nina was 3,5, she had a brother, named Thomas. The spouses would probably be exhausted if Amanda’s wife didn’t come for help.

Grandma Ann, whom Amanda calls the “3rd parent” became a true babysitter for Nina, giving the tired parents a chance to sleep and tend to the new child.

Of course, Amanda and Thomas have other things to do. Their lives at the farm are full of adventures. Once, the actress said that she had to push the goats out of the barn because they didn’t want to get out.

And she once helped a goat that couldn’t get back into the barn. Amanda brought a giant rock to the barn to turn it into a “step” and the subscribers were worried the actress would have back problems.

Stubborn goats live on their farm, as also horses, chickens, and ducks. Amanda taught her husband to feed all the animals properly, and now, every morning starts with the chores. But the actress manages to find pleasant and funny moments even in these activities. For example, she posted a video of chickens that were quickly pecking on the food, and wrote “Try not to meditate to that euphonious munch.”

The attempts to give water to ducks also often end with a lot of fun, especially when the birds climb into the water reservoir. And sometimes, a red fox comes to watch the farm inhabitants. Amanda even managed to take a picture of it once and show the photos to the subscribers.

And the most popular member of the farm is the dog, named Finn. The actress even made a short film with the dog and presented it on one of the late-night shows.

Amanda said that it was Finn that inspired her creativity. More than that, the dog was near her at very important moments of her life. For example, Finn was the only guest at her wedding. She joked that they needed a witness.

Living on a farm is not always easy. In one of the interviews, Amanda told about a time when the entire family, including the 4-year-old Nina and 1,5-year-old Thomas, spent the night in the stable.

It happened during a bad storm when one of the power generators got broken and the house had no heating. The family couldn’t go anywhere due to the weather and temporarily went to the animals to keep warm.

But all the difficulties are quickly forgotten, and the memory only keeps the happiest moments that Amanda shares with her subscribers. She publishes photos of kids, helping her as much as they can, walking on green grass, and playing with animals.

They often have celebrations in their family, and invite little guests. And on Thomas Sr.’s birthday, they didn’t have a big party and didn’t go to an expensive restaurant. Instead, they just went rafting on the river.

Life in nature is good for Amanda. In 2016, she said in an interview that she had bad anxiety, OCD, and panic attacks from time to time. On top of that, she has stage fright, and, largely, for this reason, avoided performing in theater productions up until 2015.

And when she moved to the farm, she felt that her emotional state went back to normal. Amanda loves hiking in the fresh air. Often, her husband and she take not only their own kids for walks but also children from the neighborhood.

The actress said that she used to have problems with personal boundaries. She started her career too early and tried to give directors what they wanted, sacrificing her own comfort. She was once convinced to star almost naked, and young Amanda did it, not to lose her job.

This is why she decided she would have her own house one day, where she will feel safe.

Of course, she has to travel to Los Angeles for filming regularly. But she knows that her husband is always waiting for her at home. He can do house chores and look after the kids. And both actors organize their schedules in a way to have enough time for dates and traveling without kids.

Amanda keeps saying that she values the support of her family. In September 2022, she was on the stage of the 74th Emmy Awards, where she got an award for Best Actress in The Dropout.

She thanks her mom, dad, husband, kids, and her dog Finn.

Do you think your relatives would support you if you got tired of the big city and decided to move to a calm and quiet place?
