How Amy Schumer Shared About Her Husband’s Autism, Her C-Section, Uterus Removal, and Fascinated Millions of Fans with Her Honesty

Amy Schumer is a star of American stand-up comedy. In her performances, Amy doesn’t only joke about gender stereotypes and her own appearance, but openly talks about her numerous personal issues.

“Being alone is sometimes a great place to be.”

Amy Schumer was never a big fan of marriage and the types of relationships people get in just to avoid being single. In her memoirs, she said that she felt full without a husband and child, “I felt pretty and strong in my own skin. ...I was feeling like I had it all.”

She was single at the same time her career was developing, and it was a great match for her pace of life. This is why there was very little information about her romances in the media.

“We got down to business really quick.”

Even when Amy Schumer was in a relationship, she didn’t rush to talk about it. So, she announced the romance with her future husband, chef Chris Fisher, only a few days before the wedding with him. In one interview, she even said that marriage was not an impulsive decision.

By the time they got married, they had already lived together for 6 months and had been dating for a year. “It’s not a long courtship, but it’s not like we had a great weekend in Vegas and threw in the towel.”

“We were hosting a party together. He was cooking and I was getting things ready.”

The couple thanks Amy’s personal assistant for helping them meet each other, as she is also Chris’ sister. The chef cooked dinner for the actress and her sister.

Chris Fisher is also a star, but in the cooking world rather than in show business. He continues the Fisher cooking dynasty. Before he met Amy, he even wrote his own book that won the James Beard award and arranged dinners for very high-ranking officials.

“I knew from the beginning that my husband’s brain was a little different than mine.”

Chris Fisher is a unique person, but not only because of his cooking talents. The famous chef is autistic. Amy Schumer herself talked about it in March 2019, during one of her stand-up shows: “My husband was diagnosed with what used to be called Asperger’s. He has autism spectrum disorder. He’s on the spectrum.”

But after she learned about his illness, she finally realized what determines her love for him. “All of the characteristics that make it clear that he’s on the spectrum are all of the reasons that I fell madly in love with him...”

“10:55 pm last night. Our royal baby was born.”

3 months later, the day Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a child, Amy and Chris had a baby, too. They named him Gene Attell Fischer (but soon changed it to David, because it sounded awkward).

Amy Schumer’s pregnancy was tough. She was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, so she often had nausea, and needed doctors’ supervision. She shared, “I am in my 3rd trimester, and I am still nauseous all the time and vomiting.”

“I had a fresh C-section which had complications [but] I was just so happy.”

The labor wasn’t easy, either. Aside from hyperemesis, the 38-year-old star suffered from endometriosis. Amy decided to have a C-section when she was 39 weeks pregnant. But the surgery was very long, and it took 3 hours instead of 90 minutes. In one of her interviews, she said that labor is the worst thing a woman has to do, but it’s worth it.

“We are freezing my eggs and figuring out what to do to give Gene a sibling.”

Nevertheless, all the pregnancy difficulties still left Amy Schumer positive about having children. So, one year later, her husband and Amy thought about having one more child. To give David a sibling, they had to resort to IVF.

The actress told her fans about this without hesitation and asked them to share their personal stories. She admitted that the preparation for the procedure was very difficult for her, and she is not likely to repeat it, or get pregnant in the future. “I decided that I can’t be pregnant ever again.”

“If you have really painful periods, you may have #endometriosis.”

In September 2021, Amy’s endometriosis led to complications. The 40-year-old star appeared in a hospital bed on her Instagram page and explained that she had her uterus and appendix removed. “The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis that he removed. He removed my appendix because the endometriosis had attacked it.”

The surgery was a gulp of fresh air for Amy. She finally stopped suffering from pains and felt energized. She’s sure her life will feel much happier: “I’m feeling really hopeful and I am really glad that I did it, and I think it’s going to change my life.”

«I feel good. Finally.»

And that is exactly what happened. In 2022, Amy Schumer is living her life to the fullest. She decided to have liposuction, something she couldn’t even think of several years ago. Now, she finally feels that she finished her difficult path to restoring her feminine power and health. “I feel good. Finally. It’s been a journey, thanks for helping me get my strength back”.

Together with her husband, they are enjoying their small family and focusing on the harmony they have.

We really love the persistence and never-ending energy of Amy Schumer. If you were a famous person, do you think you’d be able to talk about your problems openly? Why?
