The Love Story of Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvonen Who’ve Been Cherishing Each Other and Their Relationship for 15 Years

Even though Jimmy Fallon is always in the limelight hosting different TV shows, very little is known about his wife, Nancy Juvonen. The fact is that she’s a more behind-the-scenes type of person. Perhaps this is a reason why we haven’t been aware of the love story of this beautiful couple.

At CHEERY, we were amazed to find out that the story of Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvonen is very much like a romantic comedy full of fun and humor.

They were afraid to admit their feelings to each other.

Film producer Nancy Juvonen met comedian Jimmy Fallon on the set of Saturday Night Live in 2005. She came with Drew Barrymore, who was supposed to take part in one of the show’s episodes.

Nancy snuck in to watch Jimmy and Drew rehearsing a sketch. Suddenly, Fallon cried out, “Hey, Nancy! You’re Nancy? Hi, it’s so nice to meet you, welcome!” Later, Nancy recalled, “I felt just so embraced and cool, like, ’Thank you! Thank you for welcoming me in. This is so nice.’ ”

That same year, they met again on the set of Fever Pitch, which starred Barrymore and Fallon. The movie was produced by Flower Films, the production company founded by Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen. The relaxed environment allowed them to get close without pressure and become friends. But Nancy fell in love when she saw how good Jimmy was with kids.

“And he was just so friendly and fun and welcoming and he loved music and then when I really developed a crush was when Bradley Thomas’ kids came to set and he had a little girl named Lucy and a little boy named Charlie and I played with Lucy and Jimmy played with Charlie and really played, like really into it, as if they’d come to visit us and so, I think that’s when my heart just sort of melted even more.”

They flirted for a few months, but neither dared to take the first step. However, when they met in London to promote their movie, Jimmy said, “Hey, I miss you. I wanna hang out with you.” And Nancy had to admit that she missed him too.

Jimmy tried his best not to cry when proposing, but he started weeping anyway.

Jimmy couldn’t figure out how to propose to Nancy. The easiest way was to invite her to a restaurant, get down on one knee, and ask her. But even though he had a chance to do it this way, he still didn’t like the idea.

"I didn’t want to propose in Per Se [restaurant] because what if one year it moves locations and years later I’m going to have kids and go, “Your mom and I got engaged here. I know it’s a laser tag place but at one point it was a very fancy restaurant.”

So, he decided to hide the ring and find a better occasion. That occasion came 3 months later when the couple were vacationing at Juvonen’s family home on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Fallon proposed to Nancy on the dock, but this didn’t work out as planned.

“I said, in my head, ’Don’t cry. Let her cry first if someone will cry.’ As soon as I even remotely pulled the ring out of my pocket, I started crying. And I get down on one knee and I’m like shaking — my voice is quivering. It looks like I’m having a heart attack. Nancy’s like, ’Are you OK, dude? Are you gonna be all right?’ And then I just said, ’Hey, will you marry me?’ And she said yes.”

They got married on Richard Branson’s island because he is a fan of Fallon.

The couple started planning their wedding almost immediately. However, both of them had really busy work schedules, and they simply didn’t have enough time to organize the big wedding they originally wanted.

“We’re making these lists, and lists, and lists of people and I’m like, ‘I don’t have any time.’ We kept trying to talk to these wedding people and they wanted to talk about napkins and things we just could not have cared less on any level.”

Jimmy also spoke with his travel agent about possibly doing a destination wedding. He admitted that his dream location would be Richard Branson’s Necker Island, which is located in the British Virgin Islands. And it turned out that Branson was a huge fan of Fallon and was happy to rent out his island to him. Jimmy and Nancy tied the knot in this romantic place in December 2007.

“It was like 3 days. We got this place for 3 days, so Jimmy goes, ’What if we got married in 3 weeks, instead of next summer?’ And I’m like, ’This is the best idea of all human time.’ So, we had 12 people at our wedding. I just got a dress done as fast as I could. We didn’t care.”

The couple couldn’t have children for a long time, but they persevered, and now they have 2 daughters (and a dog).

Jimmy and Nancy were ready to have children when they got married. “It wasn’t even like ’Are you ready?’ It was just like, ’Now how are you going to do this?’ And that was a whole other question,” Nancy said on Ask the Fallons. However, it turned out to be harder to make their dream of having a big family come true than they expected.

In August 2013, Jimmy revealed that they had gone through a 5-year struggle with infertility. Eventually, they decided to turn to surrogacy. And in July 2013, they had their first child — a daughter, Winnie Rose, followed by her little sister, Frances Cole, in December 2014.

Jimmy gave Nancy a bus and a bag filled with her favorite cassettes.

Nancy shared that Jimmy is a romantic. Once, he surprised her by giving her a Volkswagen bus stocked with a Case Logic zip-tote full of her favorite cassettes with music by Genesis, The Cure, Bob Marley, Prince, and Harry Neilson. Later, Nancy had a big journey on this bus.

“When you feel heard, you feel loved.”

Together, they’ve built a house of their dreams.

In the evening, Jimmy Fallon interviews the most famous people of the world, but after that, he comes home and enjoys the warmth and comfort which he and Nancy created in their house in the Hamptons. It’s interesting that their house seems to be a perfect place to spend quality time with children.

They have a beach, an apple orchard, a slide, a games arcade, a jumbo popcorn machine, and giant figures of characters from Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Jimmy once revealed that the slide comes in handy when it comes to the household chores. For example, Nancy is often going down the slide with a handful of laundry in tow.

They’ve found a perfect recipe of family happiness.

Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvonen have been together for 15 years. Once, Nancy revealed that the secret of their happy marriage is that they are honest with each other, they have the same values, and keep their independence. But the main thing is that they have a similar sense of humor which helps them make their family life full of fun.

“Keep your sense of humor. Having a similar sense of humor is fun because then you laugh together at the same stuff. And I think keep some independence. Neither of you should be so reliant on the other.”
