14 Photos Prove That Even Celebrity Makeup Artists Can Sometimes Mess Up
Even professional makeup artists and stylists sometimes make mistakes. Some cases can be explained by the fashion trends from certain years. For example, light blue eyeshadow, skin-tone lipstick, or shimmering lip gloss, which were so popular in the 2000s, would look very odd today. But sometimes, the people in charge of celebrity looks just seem to forget how to use concealers, highlighters, bronzers, or blushes correctly.
Nicole Kidman
In 2019, the actress visited the Monte-Carlo Opera House. As she posed for photographers, you could see distinct patches of white powder around the bridge of her nose. However, Kidman paid no attention to the small makeup blunder and acted confident and relaxed.
Angelina Jolie
Although the star doesn’t often favor flashy makeup, natural-tone cosmetics can also play cruel tricks on a woman. So, at the premiere of The Normal Heart, when Jolie’s face was lit up by photographers’ camera flashes, you could see that the actress’s makeup artist went overboard with translucent powder and applied it unevenly.
Sofía Vergara
For the Primetime Emmy Awards, the star opted for a bright scarlet lipstick, which complemented her glamorous dress perfectly. However, the lipstick went noticeably outside of Vergara’s natural lip line, which made the makeup look somewhat messy. To add volume to your lips, it’s best to use a lip liner.
Kim Kardashian
In the paparazzi photos taken in Paris, the celebrity is clearly seen with contour lines on her nose, which appeared to have been insufficiently blended. Kardashian’s facial tone was also noticeably different from the skin tone of her cleavage and hands.
Katherine Heigl
At the 80th Academy Awards ceremony, the star looked as though the night before she had fallen asleep on the beach wearing sunglasses. The concealer chosen for the area around her eyes was too light, while the blush was too dark, which made for a very contrasting makeup.
Melissa Joan Hart
At the premiere of Frozen, the star of Sabrina the Teenage Witch appeared in an adorable dress in the animated film’s primary colors. However, as with Angelina Jolie, the camera flashes highlighted Hart’s slight makeup imperfections, namely traces of white powder on her face.
Kate Upton
At the Harper’s BAZAAR ICONS Event, the model was let down by her eye makeup — it left imprints on Upton’s eyelids.
Lark Voorhies
The actress allowed for the same mistake as Katherine Heigl’s makeup artists. At the premiere of Where We Started, the star of Saved by the Bell appeared with a concealer that was too light and blush that was too dark.
Tori Spelling
The star of Beverly Hills, 90210 appeared at the 2017 family charity festival with a facial tone that heavily contrasted the skin tone of her neck, and the blush chosen by the makeup artists was too dark.
Charlize Theron
The star’s makeup at the 76th Academy Awards raised questions — makeup artists seemed to have gone overboard with the bronzer, which made Theron’s face and body look orange, and her eyebrows were almost nonexistent.
Bradley Cooper
Makeup mistakes don’t only happen to famous women. Many men also use powder, foundations, concealers, and other cosmetics ahead of important events. However, makeup artists, or the stars themselves, don’t always use them successfully.
For example, actor Bradley Cooper appeared at the premiere of Valentine’s Day with an unevenly applied bronzer.
Taraji P. Henson
Here’s another case in which those responsible for the actress’s makeup apparently chose the wrong shade of powder for under her eyes; and it didn’t escape the all-seeing eye of photographers and the public.
Lady Gaga
The star has always favored striking looks that made sure the fans and the paparazzi wouldn’t be able to take their eyes off her. However, Lady Gaga’s makeup at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 can hardly be explained by a desire to start a fashion revolution and draw attention to herself. Most likely, her makeup artists simply made a mistake in applying the makeup.
Zachary Quinto
At the premiere of the thriller Margin Call in Berlin, guests and photographers couldn’t help but notice the distinct traces of powder under the actor’s eyes and on his forehead. How Quinto’s makeup artists failed to notice this, though, remains a mystery.
Have you ever had a makeup mishap? Did you notice it yourself, or did someone else point it out?
