18 Almost Imperceptible Easter Eggs That Still Didn’t Escape Attentive Viewers

We all have a movie we love so much that we can watch it hundreds of times and never get tired of it. You may even know some dialogues by heart. Perhaps you even noticed some Easter eggs hiding in plain sight.

1. “In Pirates of the Caribbean — Death Man’s Chest (2006), Norrington uses his old wig to clean the deck of the Black Pearl.”

2. “In Elvis (2022), when the protagonist enters his mother’s room, there is a picture of him from when he was 2. This same picture was used on an album cover.”

3. “In Encanto (2021), Bruno’s visions are made of emeralds. In Colombia, they are thought to give people the power to predict the future.”

4. “Jurassic World Dominions (2022) lab where Charlotte Lockwood records her memos is the same one where the first dinosaurs are said to have been cloned in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018).

5. “In Toy Story 3 (2010), the State University sent a letter from Emeryville, California. That’s the same city where Pixar Animation Studios has its headquarters.”

6. “In Toy Story 2 (1999), Hamm stands atop the game Clue, as the toys review the clues surrounding Woody’s kidnapping.”

7. “In Monsters University (2013), you can see an Arlo toy from The Good Dinosaur (2015).”

8. “In Wallace and Gromit—The Curse of Were-Rabbit (2005), when Wallace tries to brainwash the rabbits, the waves that appear inside the ’O-Matic Mind Manipulator’ match the color of the vegetables he describes.”

9. “In Do Revenge (2022), you can see a ’Horowitz Hall’ sign. That’s a reference to Clueless’ (1995) Cher Horowitz. Do Revenge is inspired by 90s teen movies.”

10. “In Robots (2005), when Rodney’s boss fires him, berates and insults both his father and him, Rodney’s tempered indicator shows he is angry at his boss.”

11. “In Pulp Fiction (1994), Tarantino’s smiling globe t-shirt is a tribute to Orbit magazine, the first to interview him as a filmmaker.”

12. “The couple at the table in The Truman Show (1998) is Daryl and Robert Davis, the founders of Seaside, the town where the film was shot. They agreed to allow the crew to film in exchange for a cameo.”

13. “In The Incredibles (2004), a woman mistakes Syndrome for Fironic. Then, in The Incredibles 2 (2018), Fironic finally appears, and his costume is similar to Syndrome’s.”

14. “It: Chapter Two’s (2019) skateboard has the same pattern as the carpet in The Shining (1980).”

15. “In Forrest Gump’s (1994) opening scene, even though his sneakers are worn out from running across the country for years, he wouldn’t get rid of the ’best gift he could get in the whole world.’”

“He did, however, change the laces.”

16. “In Despicable Me (2010), the number on Gru’s ticket is 072069. It can be interpreted as July 20, 1969, the date of the first moon landing (which Gru saw in a flashback).”

17. “In Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022), actual footage of Michelle Yeoh on the red carpet for the premiere of Crazy Rich Asians (2018) appears in the movie. She played the role of Eleanor Sung-Young in Crazy Rich Asians.

18. “Tangled (2010). In contrast to everyone else in the movie, Mother Gothel wears a Renaissance-era dress, as the magic of the flower and Rapunzel’s hair has preserved her youth for centuries.”
