14+ Children of Celebrities Who Followed in Their Parents’ Footsteps and Got Their Own Army of Followers

It’s common for children to follow in their parents’ footsteps and choose to go down the same career path. We often see long family lines of doctors, musicians, teachers, and, of course, actors. The world of cinema has seen many examples of sons and daughters of already famous actors continuing the family tradition and becoming as popular as their parents.

Here at CHEERY, we were intrigued to find out which of the celebrities’ children also decided to choose the path of the performing arts, and ended up becoming successful.

1. Kiefer Sutherland

The son of the famous Canadian actor Donald Sutherland became well known to the general public after starring in the television series 24, where he played the lead role. For this, he received several awards, including an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Today Kiefer has over 100 roles in a variety of projects under his belt.

2. Rumer Willis

With such talented and famous parents as Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, Rumer could not have become anything else but an actress. She had her film debut as a child, and since then she has been steadily pursuing her artistic career, periodically starring with either her mother or father. For example, she has appeared in the films Hostage and The Whole Nine Yards.

3. Louisa Jacobson

Louisa was born into the family of legendary actress Meryl Streep and sculptor Don Gummer. She hadn’t planned to dedicate her life to the cinema, having graduated college with a degree in psychology. But fate steered her towards a more creative pursuit, and she ended up studying at the Yale School of Drama and receiving a Master of Fine Arts in Acting. Louise first exercised her newfound talent in theater, but made her television debut in 2022, starring in the HBO series The Gilded Age.

4. John David Washington

The son of the famous actor Denzel Washington was very serious about building his career as a soccer player during his childhood and adolescence. But when he was just 7 or 8 years old, he first tried his hand at acting, playing a role in Malcolm X. He then returned to the screens in 2015 in the series The Player, where he landed one of the main roles. Since then, his acting career has taken off. His latest work is the lead role in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet.

5. Alison Eastwood

Clint Eastwood’s daughter made her film debut at age 7, appearing in the children’s film Bronco Billy. Today she’s got her name on several dozens of very diverse projects. Allison is also dabbling in production and directing.

6. Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson

Both son and daughter of the brilliant Goldie Hawn decided to follow in their mother’s footsteps and tie their lives to the world of cinema. Kate first appeared on screen in 1998, playing a cameo in the film Desert Blue. By the age of 21, she had already been nominated for an Oscar and had won a Golden Globe Award for her role in Almost Famous.

Oliver Hudson made his film debut with Goldie Hawn in the comedy The Out-of-Towners and then starred in various films and TV series for teenagers. His real success came when he got one of the main roles in the sitcom Rules of Engagement.

7. Emma Roberts

Eric Roberts’ daughter (and Julia Roberts’ niece) rose to fame thanks to her role as Addie Singer on the Nickelodeon series Unfabulous. This was followed by roles in projects such as Scream 4, We’re the Millers, and, of course, in the TV series American Horror Story.

8. Dakota Johnson

The daughter of famous actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith became widely known for her role as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey film series, for which she received the People’s Choice Award and a BAFTA nomination. Since then, her list of projects has only been growing and becoming more diverse.

9. Zoë Kravitz

The daughter of musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet starred in her debut film back in 2007 when she was so lucky as to work together with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart. However, her true fame was brought to her after her role as Bonnie Carlson in the HBO series Big Little Lies. In 2022, Zoë Kravitz played the role of Catwoman in The Batman.

10. Eva Amurri

The daughter of director Franco Amurri and actress Susan Sarandon has over a dozen roles under her belt. Most often she can be seen in comedies or sitcoms. Eva has appeared several times on the screen together with her famous mother. She also runs a popular lifestyle blog, Happily Eva After.

11. Domhnall Gleeson

The son of the Irish actor Brandon Gleeson became well known for his role as Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter film series. After that, his career took off and he starred in a large number of serious projects, such as Ex Machina, Never Let Me Go, The Revenant, and Star Wars, to name just a few.

12. Jamie Lee Curtis

The daughter of actors Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis found fame at a young age, earning the title of “scream queen” due to starring roles in several popular horror films, such as Halloween, Terror Train, and The Fog. Then Jamie Lee switched to more serious roles. Today she has the prestigious BAFTA award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Saturn Award.

13. Gustaf Skarsgård and Valter Skarsgård

The Skarsgård family is full of talent: the four sons of the famous actor Stellan Skarsgård have also tied their lives to the world of cinema. The audiences are most familiar with Alexander and Bill, but their brothers Gustaf and Valter are no less talented. Gustaf became famous thanks to his role as Floki in the TV series Vikings. As for the youngest son, Valter, he’s been in a few films, including Lords of Chaos.

14. Lily-Rose Melody Depp

The daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis also decided to continue her parents’ legacy. The first professional step in her acting career was her cameo in the movie Tusk. She then took on more serious parts, the most notable of which include the role of Catherine of Valois in the film The King and Cecile in the drama The Wolf. Lily-Rose has been nominated several times at the César Awards as the most promising actress.
