14 Times Stars Wanted to Tell Us Something with Their Outfits

Our favorite actors and actresses appear on the red carpet in luxurious outfits that we never get tired of discussing. But sometimes celebrities’ stylists prepare those looks in an especially creative way and we can see references to movies and characters in the details of their gowns.

Zendaya

At the premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the actress dazzled everyone in a dress by Valentino, decorated with delicate spiderweb embroidery. She was also posing for photographers in a lace mask that resembled the legs of a spider.

Keira Knightley

When getting ready for the premiere of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Keira Knightley decided to remind everyone of her character with the help of the gown she wore. In the movie, the actress played a Sugar Plum Fairy. And her elegant dress by Chanel resembled a sugar plum with its texture.

Emma Watson

Emma Watson arrived at the world premiere of Beauty and the Beast wearing a black jumpsuit that had a rose on its waistline. This flower plays an important role in the movie — the fading of the enchanted rose is directly connected with the life of Belle’s on-screen lover. The actress’s hairstyle was complemented with hairpins in the shape of leaves.

Angelina Jolie

Apparently, Angelina Jolie was still in her role at the premiere of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. She appeared in an outfit that the famous dark fairy herself would’ve worn. Her black flowy Versace dress was adorned with a silver scorpion, designed to thrill everyone around her. But we are not scared of her — we know that Maleficent has a kind heart.

Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning decided to follow Angelina Jolie’s example. She also gave tribute to her character Aurora (who, according to the plot of the film, was pricked with a spindle) with the help of a Gucci dress. The actress’s glove was decorated with drops that were hinting at Aurora’s fateful trauma.

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie played Elizabeth Tudor in Mary, Queen of Scots. The actress arrived at the premiere of the movie in a Rodarte dress decorated with a sequined rose at the waist. History fans can see it as a reference to Robbie’s character’s emblem — the Tudor rose.

Amber Heard

Amber Heard posed for photographers at the premiere of Aquaman in a Valentino dress. The color of this dress was the color of her character’s (Mer) costume. Also, the actress decided that her headwear should match well with the “water” theme of the flick — it resembled a swimming cap.

Timothée Chalamet

At the Venice Film Festival, Timothée Chalamet donned an outfit with 2 Cartier brooches on it. The design of the jewelry fully corresponded to the aesthetic world of Dune. The first brooch looked like a sword from 1913, the second one — an art-deco style beetle that resembled the flying devices of the planet Arrakis.

Brie Larson

At the premiere of Captain Marvel, the dress and the earrings of the actress, who played the main role, were decorated with stars. As you know, the symbol of the superheroine is an 8-pointed star.

Neil Patrick Harris

Neil Patrick Harris’s ombre-effect suit impressed everyone at the premiere of The Matrix Resurrections. The colors of the suit resembled the “calling card” of the flick — the constantly changing digit combinations in The Matrix.

Daisy Ridley

This actress arrived at the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in a dark blue dress that resembled the night sky. The entire outfit was covered with patterns of white sequins in the shape of stars of different sizes.

Elizabeth Debicki, who played Princess Diana in the TV series The Crown, included references to the princess in her outfit on the red carpet. At the London premiere, she emulated the princess’ Cannes look from 1987.

Jenna Ortega

Ortega plays the titular morose teenager in the supernatural mystery series Wednesday. At the premiere of the show, the actress appeared in a gothic dress by Versace complemented by a black veil which was embroidered at the end like a spider’s web. The pattern was included on different parts of the dress as well.

Lily James

For the Cinderella premiere in Hollywood, Lily James came in an incredible lavish dress. She wore fairy-tale shoes and a watch-shaped clutch to complete the look. As we all know, it is important for Cinderella to keep track of time when she is at an event!
