“I Don’t Give Myself any Rules Anymore.” How Jennifer Aniston Manages to Get Prettier Year After Year, Using Simple Routines
It’s hard to believe it, but this year, Jennifer Aniston has turned 53. It seems that the star of Friends and The Morning Show hasn’t aged a bit in the past 20 years. She radiates the energy of youth, she looks stunning, and she enjoys herself like never before.
CHEERY found out Jennifer Aniston’s secrets of health and beauty. Of course, she worked hard for it, but you can use a few simple and useful life hacks.
Her morning routine.
The star of Friends pays a lot of attention to the first hours after she wakes up. Jennifer has a simple morning routine that keeps her energized the entire day. She meditates, and, if she has time, she keeps a journal, “Meditation, that’s a no-brainer. I also journal, and if I don’t get to do that, it’s a bummer.”
Many of us start the day with a cup of coffee to wake up. Jennifer takes it a step further. For her health, she adds collagen peptides to the drink, “I love products that show results. Within two months, I felt such a difference in my workouts and joints, and my nails became rock hard.”
Another important rule Aniston has is to not start the day by checking the mail. The actress knows that once she touches her phone, she won’t be able to stop thinking about work. Instead, she enjoys the company of her pets, “Every morning, I walk and feed the dogs. Then I meditate, make my coffee, and journal or write a gratitude list. Only after that do I pull out my phone and allow emails and texts and all the busy business stuff into my brain.”
Jennifer says that resting from social media during the first hours after waking up is the best decision of her life. She recommends everyone to do the same, “No phones, no email, no texting, and no social media. No looking at any of that for a good hour, hour and a half. I highly recommend doing a week of it, you won’t believe the difference.”
Jennifer’s body.
Jennifer eats nutritious foods that help her feel better. She prefers fruit, vegetables, fats that are good for the heart, and an optimal amount of proteins and carbs. She rarely eats processed foods and added sugar.
To feel great, she watches her water balance and doesn’t neglect the most important thing — good sleep, “My general philosophy is to eat healthy. It’s pretty clear: eat as many organic fruits and veggies as you can, keep sugar intake low, drink tons and tons of water and get good sleep. I allow myself to indulge once in a while. I don’t give myself any rules anymore.”
In several interviews, Aniston said that she practiced intermittent fasting. It means that she only eats within an 8-hour window and doesn’t eat for the rest 16 hours. The last time she eats is at 6 pm, and she doesn’t have breakfast until 10 am.
Jennifer is known for her love for yoga and Pilates. She tries to work 5 times a week, and if she can she exercises every day. Her yoga and spin teacher of over 15 years, Mandy Ingber, says about her approach, “My clients and I make sure we do daily exercise. I aim for seven days a week of training and normally hit five. Diet and exercise are key.”
Jennifer exercises to support her physical and mental health. At first, she does 30 minutes of spinning, 40 minutes of yoga. The actress does toning exercises, power yoga, vinyasa flow and then some yin yoga stretching, and then finishes with the infrared sauna.
Long, well-groomed hair is the calling card of the actress. When you think about Jennifer, you instantly remember her shiny locks. And she has recently launched her hair product line. Thanks to a healthy routine, her face looks very young. She uses a moisturizing face spray with pink water and sunscreen with a high SPF. So, her skin remains nurtured and healthy.
Of course, the actress has access to the best beauticians and newest beauty products, but she also loves home care, “On Sundays, I usually do carve out a little afternoon mini spa day for me, where I give myself a good scrub and a nice mask. Sunday is usually my day to kind of indulge by putting on some nice music and giving myself some love.”
Mental health.
Sports don’t only help her stay in shape, but also retain a great mood. She’s tried a lot of things and has found something good for both her body and mind, “There’s something about the mental aspect of boxing — the drills, your brain has to work. Boxing is a great way to get aggression out. You get a mental release of all this crap you’re taking into your ears and eyes every day and have little fantasy moments imagining who you’re punching.”
Jennifer is under the watchful eye of the press. Her appearance, the ups and downs of her career, and even her personal life have been discussed by the media hundreds of times. After divorcing Justin Theroux, there have been rumors that they visited a family psychologist. And in a later interview, Aniston told that she’s been visiting a psychotherapist for many years.
The actress honestly talks about her mental health and admits that therapy has changed her life. Her only regret is that she hadn’t started it earlier, “You can undo a lot of things. If you’re not happy, you can become happy. Happiness is a choice. That’s the thing I really feel.”
